Scenes from Mardi Gras 2009

Ahh another Mardi Gras has come and gone and now Lent is here. We had a great season! We went to the Conde Cavaliers parade (we did not take Kait down because of the cold weather). We were able to attend the Order of Juno Ball for the first time this year and it was a blast. My Aunt and cousins are in the organization so that made it that much more fun. Kaitlyn did not actually get to go down with us until M.O.T Day. In our family this day has been like Fat Tuesday all of my life since my Dad was in the organization for over 20 years, my Uncle is still in and so is my brother not to mention numerous friends who are like family. This year was my brothers first year to ride and he had a blast as you can tell by the very top picture. The pink Cadillac float was his in the second picture. Alas our Mardi Gras festivities were cut short because Kaitlyn started getting sick M.O.T day so we stayed at home with her on Joe Cain Day, Lundi Gras and Fat Tuesday. Hopefully next year we can participate more.

I absolutely love his time of year, we are so lucky as Mobilians to have such a fun tradition. It is a time to spend time with family and see people that you only see at this time of year. It is also a time to have fun and get a little rowdy, in your own way of course. But..I am glad it only comes around once a year because I could not handle it otherwise.
